A PERFECT DAY

I jumped out of my bed
Today is Saturday
School’s done for the week
And I’m ready to play

It did not cross my mind
That there might not be sun
‘Cause the weekend was here
It was time to have fun

I had so many plans
Ride my bike, play some ball
Then hang out with my friends
It’s just not fair at all

It occurred to me then
What I knew all along
This isn’t a problem
I’m looking at this wrong

I’m not made of sugar
I won’t melt in the rain
So I’m out in the mud
With my shovel once again

LISTEN TO ME READ

I woke up on a rainy Saturday morning and thought about what I remember thinking about days like this when I was a kid... and for my brothers, my friends, and me this was pretty much it. Not sure my mom was all that happy about it.
