FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

The school year starts soon
No surprise to me
My mom keeps on saying
That soon she’ll be free

I’m joining the band
My trumpet to toot
But I came home instead
With a lyrical flute

My backpack was green
But now it is red
So how did that happen
That’s what my mom said

My pencils got lost
My lunch, I don’t know
My coat… did I wear one?
I looked high and low

I’ve still got my shoes
One’s green and one’s blue
My mom said, “They were white!
Just what did you DO?”

AND

I almost forgot
I told them that you
Would bring treats tomorrow
By ten twenty two

LISTEN TO ME READ

It's amazing that parents, especially moms, are still sane after the first week of a new school year.
