IN THE DARK OF THE NIGHT
I’m silent as night
A shadow of dark
On the hunt in Africa
My prey knows to fear
My bite and my bark
I follow the trail
My nose in the air
Those who think to oppose me
I pity them and
Suggest they beware
Shhhh! I heard something
Was that noise a growl?
It’s probably my stomach
Not a crocodile
And no not an owl
What I want to know
The question I’ve got
Is where’d Mom hide the cookies
I need to find them
Before I get caught
What are you thinking
You insolent pup
Mom said, “To bed with you now.”
Before your father
Finds out you’ve been up
LISTEN TO ME READ
It was always an adventure trying to sneak a cookie when I was a kid. Moms not only have eyes in the back of their heads, but can also read kid's minds.
