PICK A PET

My parents say I'm old enough
That I can have a pet
I've given it a lot of thought
Which pet that I should get

The usuals, like Dogs and Cats
Appeal to me not much
I'm thinking more exotic, hmmm...
More scaly to the touch

Hamsters do seem to get away
And Skunks they tend to stink
A Pterodactyl would be GREAT
If only not extinct

My mom's afraid of Rats and Mice
A Horse costs too much money
And even though a Bee will sting
At least they will make honey

My mind's made up, just what I'll get
It's something that I'll love
There's just a few things that I'll need
Besides a leather glove

A toothbrush will be hard to find
I'll figure that out later
Each day I want to say, "See you
Later, Alligator."

LISTEN TO ME READ

I'm thinking I'll write some poems using phrases that little kids love to say. And the next one of course HAS to be, "After a while, Crocodile." Right!?
